Minnesota Blogs

M.I.A. Kala2007 has ended, and people with an obsessive-compulsive disorder have taken time away from counting the freckles on the back of my neck to make lists about everything under and above the sun. Lists of record albums seem to be a favorite. A good way to show your superiority to the population is to alienate them with your musical tastes. M.I.A.‘s album wasn’t as good as you think it was. And now, I have become superior.

But we are traveling on a line perpendicular to a discussion about lists. Let us make two 90 degree turns and get back on track. Well, three turns. We have to turn on to the track once we get there.

Ahhhh, here we are. Lists. I was flipping through the current issue of Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine at Cub Foods, just before I purchased 9 dollars worth of turkey that would have been 4 dollars if my coupon wasn’t still nestled gently in my pocket, when a a list of the best Twin Cities blogs jumped out and surprised me. Maybe it didn’t surprise me. Maybe I was looking specifically for it. But we shouldn’t squabble about that now.

In the list, I saw many familiar and deserving Minnesota faces. Ang Dezelske of Overheard in Minneapolis, some other guy, and some dude. But one familiar face that I didn’t see was my own! Are you telling me that this blog, which only really started updating yesterday, was not one of the best Minnesota based blogs? My rage was so intense that the entire stand of periodicals quickly combusted before I made a hasty retreat to the ice cream aisle. Remember, if there is a fire, go to the ice cream.

After I calmed down, I realized that maybe Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine was right. Maybe I haven’t written about Minnesota enough in 2007 with my one post in 2008. It was time to put aside the pride and superiority gained by slamming M.I.A. and change the way I did things.

So now, it’s time to write good and hard about Minnesota. Ready? Here we go!

Boy, badgers and cheese sure are awesome!

Dammit.
